At Home Halloween Ideas

Halloween may look a little different this year, but there’s still plenty of spooky fun to be had! A little creative thinking can add up to a scary good time, and maybe even a new tradition or two. From trick-or-treat alternatives to tasty eats, this list has something for big and small goblins alike.

Trick-or-Treat Alternatives

Candy Chute
Andrew Beattie came up with this ingeniously simple idea using an old cardboard shipping tube as a candy chute. He plans on putting a sign at the bottom of the chute to show kids where to put their baskets, making the entire process contactless…and pretty cool, we might add!

Candy Sticking
Wendy Reeves Winter shared her idea for getting candy to kids in a safe way: candy sticking. She plans to decorate her yard “Willy Wonka-style,” by taping candy to sticks and greeting kids a safe distance away on her porch.

Halloween Egg Hunt
Feel like keeping the festivities at home? Try filling glow-in-the-dark eggs with candy and then hiding them for your kids to find. You can bump up the Halloween factor by allowing them to hunt for the eggs in costume.

Costume Bicycle Parade
If you have been regularly socializing with close friends or family members, invite them over for a costume bicycle parade. Children could even collect candy from the parade watchers in their bicycle baskets or a bag tied to the handlebars.
